Good News for Red Line Luas Commuters

Many of you reading this will be aware that as Chair of the Citywest Community Council I have continued to highlight the issues surrounding the unreliability, safety and capacity issues on the red line Luas service. Deputy John Lahart and myself have raised these issues with the National Transport Authority.

Unfortunately, no response was forthcoming from the NTA and earlier this month, Deputy John Lahart highlighted these concerns on behalf of residents in the Dáil.

In response, Sean Fleming TD confirmed, on behalf of the Minister of Transport that Transport Infrastructure Ireland are considering a Luas Fleet renewal programme & increasing the number of trams assigned to the Red Line Luas service. TII have also instructed Transdev to implement a new timetable to provide for additional services on weekdays and at weekends.

John Lahart TD – Topical Question – February 2024

This is very good news for all residents of Citywest, Saggart and Tallaght who rely on the Red Line Luas to commute on a daily basis.

Please see click here to see more from the Dail exchange.

We look forward to seeing the implementation of this new timetable in due course.
