As a member of the Tallaght Transport Forum, I have continued to raise concerns of residents around the anti social behaviour and general feeling of being unsafe when using the red line Luas service.

Until now, Transdev have used their security van to patrol between Belgard and Saggart stops. However, at July’s Transport meeting, I put in a request for the placement of LUAS security personnel on the trams between Belgard and Saggart stops. Transdev have agreed to this, and as a result we are now seeing more security on the Luas between these stops.

I’m receiving great feedback from residents with this new development, which I will convey back to Transdev at the next meeting. I will request that this increased personnel on trams is retained as a permanent measure, to ensure that commuters between Saggart and Belgard can feel safer on their daily commute.
