Earlier this week, I had the absolute pleasure of attending a screening of the Mrs. Robinson documentary, followed by an interview with the very lady herself.
Thank you to @women4electionire for organising this special event. It was a very emotional and hugely inspiring evening. I remember when Mary Robinson was appointed President. As a young girl, I knew it was a step in a different direction for Ireland, but I did not understand the significance of this step until much later.
While Mary Robinson carved a way for so many women in Ireland and across the world, there is still a lot more to do. It is vitally important that we have both women and men, in equal measure, acting on our behalf, in the rooms where decisions are made. Balance will bring a fairer and more inclusive system for all.
I am passionate about fairness, equality and ensuring that there is representation for all in Dáil Éireann. Currently, only 23.1% of TD’s are women. We have an opportunity now to increase that percentage, and bring us closer to balanced representation, in the formation of our new Government. I am asking for your No. 1 vote in the upcoming elections. I am committed to being a strong voice on issues that matter most to you.
