Mini Woodlands – Clondalkin Park

I recently helped out with Clondalkin Tidy Towns for their mini woodland preparation in Clondalkin Park. The mini woodlands are organised by tidy towns groups with @steppingstoneforests & @sdublincoco. Mini woodlands are created by using cardboard and mulch to prep the soil before planting lots of native trees on a small site.

The importance of these mini woodlands cannot be underestimated. They have an estimated 20 to 100 times more biodiversity and 40 times more carbon absorption than traditional woodlands.

It was a fabulous morning. Wonderful to see so many volunteers out making a difference for biodiversity in Clondalkin.

It is great to see more and more of these mini woodlands being created throughout parks.
