I had a beautiful start to a sunny Saturday morning in Saggart Schoolhouse Community Centre. I joined the Open House tour together with South Dublin County Council and Irish Architecture Foundation.

It was a great insight into the preservation of the original Schoolhouse while also creating the fabulous bright and welcoming community centre we have today.

The design is in keeping with the school building, with so many original features still in tact, including floor tiles, wooden flooring, wall dado features, and, of course, the school black boards!! I’m sure these bring back many wonderful memories for past pupils of St. Mary’s School.

Thank you to Shane and all the staff Saggart Schoolhouse for all their great work. The community centre is a huge asset to the community of Saggart. There is always a very warm welcome when you step inside 😊
